Air ambulance.

These guys (and girls) are kept busy! This was on the helipad as my youngest sister and I headed for home this evening. We had been at the hospital since lunchtime, and the other two sisters had just arrived. Ethan and Jake ((or Bert and Ernie, as we like to call them), have popped in and out all day.

I ran to the hospital and walked home - Joanne got a taxi.

I did manage to pin down the ward doctor today with the help of MacMillan nurses (angels!) I explained that we wanted mam home, but was told that she was too unwell. I told them we needed better lines of communication, but was told that it was a busy ward and they were only prepared to communicate with the next of kin (me). I pointed out that I had spent all morning on the phone, and had received a distressing call from my mum at around 9.30 - begging for help. Nobody answered the phone until lunchtime, by which time I had MacMillan on the case.

They want her to have a CT scan as a matter of urgency (I was told the same yesterday) and to treat her pneumonia. On top of the cancer, she also has something going on with her heart and her liver. I also suspect that she has had a stroke because she is suddenly leaning to the right and has a droop on her mouth / slurred speech - they hadn’t noticed this. She isn’t being well managed for pressure sores - all very upsetting.
