Monday: Trees and a Shrub
Maple tree winged seeds, Viburnum opulus (guelder rose) in flower and sycamore “flowers” - all useful to our garden wildlife, the guelder rose in particular will have red berries in a few weeks time which the blackbirds love eating.
Overcast first thing this morning, brightened up by midday, temperature 15°C in a chilly northerly breeze which was perfect for drying the washing!
We’ve hardly had any rain this month and the birds are getting desperate, I’m filling the saucers and posh bird bath every day and I’ve found a very large plastic saucer which now contains water placed near the wood store.
I accidentally scared off a group of goldfinch feeding on the dandelion seeds behind the garage :-(( then I walked down the path to the shed and saw a male bullfinch on the hedge, he saw me and flew off …!
MrD returned from his motorbike trip to visit our daughter, her husband and Cousin Idris.
I’ve watched both of today’s programmes from the Chelsea Flowers Show and found “The Great Northern Garden Build” on iPlayer which is the building of RHS Bridgewater. Transferred some plants from pots into the border under the Mahonia, a Japanese quince and a Sarcococca, both badly pot bound.
Lots of love to all my family XXXX XXX XX
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
