Grey Heron

There were 3 Herons over today, the youngest female, the adult male (pictured) and the middle female. The youngest one was first over and had a good feed before the adult male landed and went for every bit of fish. I did manage to feed the youngest one though. Things got a bit tighter when the middle female arrived, however they all got a feed as did the 2 crows. In the shot the male is making his presence felt by flicking up his crest feathers and "puffing" himself up a bit. He is quite a character!

I got a better look at the youngest one in flight today. The wing feather looks damaged rather than being ready to shed. It certainly doesn't seem to bother her and she is well able to fly.
