Tiny Bubbles...
... in the wine... make me happy... make me feel fine...
Yes, but this is not quite what I had envisioned as the celebratory opening of our cherished bottle of Blanquette de Limoux. ...It was to be the highlight of a special day to honour our host, the Aveyron, to bid a fond farewell to a beautiful area, and drink a toast to the new adventure awaiting us in Toulouse. A very good plan for a very good bottle of wine.
I had envisioned a sunny day, lounging on the patio overlooking the rural landscape of France we had grown to love, a baguette, a bit of pâté, and our favourite Roquefort cheese on the side, chatting about our favourite memories of our time here, topped off with the popping of the cork and a clinking of the glasses to say "Thank you Aveyron for all that you have given us - those green rolling hills, that morning mist in the valley, the chorus of birdsong, the abbeys, chateaux, and medieval villages, the arched stone bridges, the castles on hilltops, and the cows...we loved the cows..."
Well...it has been about three weeks since we have seen the sun......there is none in the forecast and time is running out...there is not a single patio day in sight. It is raining... again...why wait? Why not just drink the darn wine!
So we did. And it was good.
And then we started making plans for Toulouse...
