Growth circles

Thank you for the comments, hearts and stars for my 4015th blip yesterday! Will try to respond to each comment soon.
G planned to finish splitting the wood today. I had noticed this pattern of growth circles in a hemlock log a few days ago and wanted to get a photo of it before he split it, so I did! I have to wonder what caused the pattern. The tree and some other hemlock were diseased and had to be taken down. I took the photo in the first extra 2 days ago. I've written about the work around the place that's been keeping me busy, but not what's been keeping G busy. He's been splitting the wood for next winter, and there's been plenty to split! There are several other piles as well as the ones in the extra. He's started to put the wood in the sheds. Not sure when he'll finish that!  No doubt a blip of the full woodsheds in the near future. G's such a hard worker, and it amazes me what he can accomplish in a day.
I had a good walk down Xwaaqw'um this morning. It had been quite a long time since I walked the trail to the daffodil point, so I decided today was the day. I'd forgotten how many hills there were, some quite steep, so I got a good cardio workout! Of course the daffodils are long finished, but it was beautiful anyway. We used to walk here most springs to see the daffodils that were planted on an old homestead. There was a weird orange pattern in the bay, and a woman told me that it was coming from the Crofton pulp and paper mill across the bay on Vancouver Island. On my way back to the car, I saw a couple and their dog playing frisbee in a different butterfly field from the one I added as an extra the other day. It looked like the woman was taking photos or videos of the man and dog.  I added extras of the field and the orange patterns.
Before I went out for my walk, I watered the garden and planted three tomato starters. When I got home, I finished weeding the perimeter rocks and that's a job that I'm glad to have finished.
