Big Big Moon

The illusion that the moon appears much larger near the horizon was suggested by Ptolemy to be due to the fact that are no intervening objects by which to compare the size of the moon.

Schopenhauer said the illusion is "purely intellectual or cerebral and not optical or sensuous".

I just think it's cool. But it certainly looked big tonight.

Hope your weekend is going swimmingly!

P.S. Actually, it was the moon's closest approach to Earth, so it should have been pretty big anyway!
