Cwmorthin
Cwmorthin quarry has been producing slate since 1810 and finally closed in 1997. Once you've climbed up past the huge tips of slate the valley opens up looking beautiful and no doubt much different than it was in the 19th century. My main blip is of Capel Rhosydd which was built for the quarrymen of Cwmorthin and Rhosydd quarry which is a bit further along the valley.
I've added extras of the quarrymen's barracks, one in colour and another which I've converted to black and white. The third extra is of the river at Ganllwydd.
It's been a very hot day and by mid afternoon I just wanted to get back to the hotel to cool off.
