Rescued, I hope.

This young starling was being predated by a magpie this afternoon. I was gardening when I heard a huge commotion in a neighbour’s garden. About a dozen starlings were swooping down to try and distract a magpie from killing the young starling. I rushed next door to see what I could do. The magpie flew off and the wee bird looked dead. But after I picked it up it gradually revived. I placed it where the parents could see it and I waited ready to chase the magpie if it came back. The parents were really agitated but I don’t think there was anything they could do as it could barely fly. My neighbour arrived back so I had to explain the situation to him. Then I had to leave the wee one. I’m not sure what happened after that. Chances are it didn’t survive.
