The End of May the 18th

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I went into work today. I was supposed to be having breakfast with the ex-Team Jess but it got cancelled. Briar was sick and the others were booked into a workshop.

But never mind, I still managed to meet up with Manda and her friend Tanu for lunch at "Soul Shack" a spicy chicken place. They discussed all the drama at the Cordon Bluh and unsurprisingly for a place full of temperamental French chefs, there is a fair amount.

Manda described one fight over a desk of all things, which ended up with one chef dumping all the possessions of another into a dustbin bag and saying, "See?! Now your desk is CLEAR!"

"I don't know why people keep saying he's just demanding," said Tanu. "He's a BULLY."

Manda agreed but on the other hand, "You should see what he can do with a croissant."

I'll forgive a lot for a well-made croissant.

After work, we met up again for a few drinks. Loulou also popped into Duke's and it was nice having a brief beer or two and decompressing.

Of course, I'm feeling pretty decompressed already. I've already started ducking out of meetings on the grounds that "what's the effing point".

And on the other side of the fence I got a lovely message that my new team has already arranged a welcome for me on Monday morning.

And so May the 18th drew to a close and I feel lighter. Of course, that could be the four whiskeys that me and Manda had.

S.
