Red Spotted Purple Butterfly

Today, I hiked around Gilbert Run with my sister for the first time since they finished the flood damage repair. It is a beautiful park and we enjoyed our walk very much. My sister was keen to find subjects for her inaturalist app. We found a lizard, two snakes, this butterfly, and a frog, as well as a wealth of interesting wetland plants. 
This butterfly landed on the trail right in front of us. The extra was a surprise find in the crook of a tree. It is a painted rock with a bible inscription.
