Day 147: My First Day Back

In my last job, if I took any time off, even a day, I would inevitably return to chaos. It was quite refreshing to return to work with relative ease.

My current employer sadly does not pay over time, so when anyone works any extra hours, I record it on a spreadsheet and make sure they get the correct amount of time off in return. Ie. If you work a 4 hour shift on a Saturday, you get a half day through the week.

I discovered today that some staff have been adding on hours whenever they like in an attempt to get more time off. If they think I'm going to fall for that they have another thing coming. I suspect this may lead to an employee or two storming off in a huff, and with any luck quitting.


Today was also significant as it was the first day I cycled to work. Typically the beautiful weather we had at the weekend disappeared, meaning I had a very cold and windy cycle to work. However I did not get stuck in any traffic which was quite refreshing. Same for my journey home. in fact I actually got home earlier than when I normally drive.

Bloody knackered tho.
