A bit of a moth and butterfly day. I went to a moth recording meeting in a local woodland where I spent an hour and a half with a group of both experienced and new moth fans. There weren’t actually very many but that’s the pattern everyone is seeing at the moment - colder weather is keeping them hidden. These two are an Early Thorn and a Scarce Prominent. The very elderly and tatty Small Tortoiseshell butterfly visited our garden. The cat caught it but N managed to rescue it.
