Dandelion
I had a bad start to the morning. I had to go to the post office to return an online order, and so on my way to walk Xena I stopped off at the post office to do so. I locked the car, put my key in my jacket pocket, walked the 300m to the post office and when I returned to the car I could not find my car key. I checked all my pockets twice, I retraced my steps three times, spoke to the staff at the post office in case I had dropped it there, but no, I could not find the key. Nothing for it but to run home to get the spare car key, luckily I was not too far from home. I returned with the spare car key, checked around once more, then drove off to the woods to walk Xena.
After my walk I had to go grocery shopping so I only got home at lunch time. I checked my jacket one more time, turned it upside down and shook it out but still could not find the key. After lunch I decided to have one more look and finally found the key tucked away in the handwarmer pocket! Whew!
Then it was a mad dash across to Rosemary’s house where I was helping with the organisation of the judging of the exhibition images. Monica, the highly regarded judge had to go through about 200 digital images and then a further 190 print images to choose a 1st, 2nd, 3rd place plus three to four highly commended in each class. Us helpers had to sort the prints into piles and then after the judging re-sort them for tonight’s judges’ commentary meeting at our camera club. She viewed each print for about 20 seconds and said yes or no, the no’s were put in one pile, the yes’s were then rejudged and so the process went until finally she whittled down the entries to just the winners. As most if not all of these exhibition images have already been judged in various competitions during the year already, it was so interesting to see how different her decisions were – some winning images she totally disregarded, while others that had previously scored low marks were now given awards. I suppose as much as they say it doesn’t, a judges personal preferences do affect their decision.
Then it was another mad dash home again in the 5pm traffic to get supper cooked and get myself organised, so that I can leave home again to attend our camera club meeting where the judge will be discussing certain images she held back and awarding prizes to each class.
It’s been a busy day!
