Sunday in Sofala

Sofala is a small village in the central west of New South Wales. It is the oldest surviving gold-rush town in Australia. In recent years, it has kept its self alive through tourism, but Covid has had a major impact on it. Some of the original houses are still being lived in. One of the original houses is currently being used as a bookshop.

We visited Sofala today for the first time in a number of decades. When we left Bathurst for the 45 minute drive, we thought we would be able to buy lunch in Sofala. Sadly, the cafe has closed. A small group of locals still provide some basic lunches like sausage sandwiches. The fourth photo shows Burradoo standing in a queue waiting for our sausage sandwiches. They were delicious. I think the four photos will give an insight into Sofala.
