Get Creative- Open Studios

Lys Hansen, founder member and President of Forth Valley Open Studios- Artbeat, popped in this morning.
 
I can hardly believe its thirteen years since we launched the first Open Studios in central Scotland.
 
We had no idea if it would be successful or even how many artists were in the area. To our surprise over 80 signed up.
 
This year there are 58 different studios, artist collectives, and creative organisations, making a total of over 100 artists, offering a wide variety of workshops from glass blowing demos, jewellery, willow basket basket making to hand loom demos as well as printmaking and drawing workshops. In fact something for everyone.
 
 
 
At a time of major cuts to funding of the arts our Open Studios-Artbeat remains unique in that it is totally self-funded by artists. This was the initial model we started with and it has proved highly successful largely due to artist, Avril Nicol, our volunteer Project Co-ordinator.
 
The event will run from 10-18 June across central Scotland.
