Lilac

“ We’ll gather lilacs in the spring again
And walk together down an English lane
Until our hearts have learned to sing again
When you come home once more”

Ivor Novello

My Dad used to whistle this song around the house. I’m guessing it had a poignant meaning for those who went off to war leaving loved ones behind, although it didn’t become popular until 1945.
This tree is doing particularly well this year.
It was a rescue plant, looked a bit of a poor specimen when we bought it a few years ago, we were told it just needed a bit of TLC and it would be fine.
