The Bonny Red Damselfly

[sings]
On the fourteenth of May at the dawn of the day
My exuvia departed, to the pond I did fly
In search of some game, if the weather proved fair,
To see if I might find another red damselfly there...

Well, it's a date thing, like singing Convoy on the 6th of June when the Moon is new... sadly, or not, this year it's just past full.

A lovely day with a barbecue lunch with Greg and Cathy and their daughter Jess, and the chance to check out a pond without massive and voracious finned predators. The large reds were busily seeking hares (or at least the Odonata equivalent).

After such a fine lunch one normally goes home to a large sofa and a short snooze, but Janet felt we needed (yet) more exercise and off we went into the evening twilight for an invigorating twenty click ride around Stinchcombe.

The birds they were singing in the bushes and trees
and the song that they sang was 'oh! she's faster than me!'
so I switched on my battery, with a whoosh I was home
Say I 'have you had enough exercise coz my legs are all done!'
