Rynek Glowny
Rynek Glowny is the main square in Krakow.
Here we ae looking towards St.May's church.
St. Mary's church was rebuilt in the 14th centuary (yes - it really is that old) and the interior is magnificent ....... jaw droppingly stunning in fact.
This inteior is in a cafe in the Cloth Hall in the middle of the square. The decor is as it was when the place opened in 1910 but the Cloth Hall dates back to medievil times.
There is always something going on in the square and on this occation it was the amulance sevice teaching CPR to the public and being filmed for television.
We met a friend at a bar in Kazimierez in the afternnon. Every table (inside and out) has a sewing machine on it.........guess the name of the bar.
Another cafe/bar we visited has a very interesting interior with the most ornate toilet doors I have ever seen.
In the evening I went to a music recital in the small church behind the memorial to the Kaytn massacre (in 1940 thousands of Polish soldiers were massacred by the Russians who denied it until 1990).
The church may be small but it is ornate. I am also led to believe that it was one of the first postings of a young priest Karol Józef Wojty?a - later to become Pope John Paul II
