The Corner Bookshop

E and I were on the road again today for another Offcumdens event, this time over in Halifax hosted by the wonderful Corner Bookshop situated in the Piece Hall. We suffered a little anxiety on the way because the traffic on the M62 was horrendous and at one point it must have taken us over half an hour to cover not much more than a couple of miles. The journey took an hour longer than expected. In the end, it was one of those weird situations when everything suddenly started moving again, very freely, and it was hard to understand the cause of the gridlock. We eventually arrived with a whole ten minutes to spare.

Master of ceremonies was the eccentric Ross Kightly (left) and we had a question and answer session with the wonderful Bob Horne (right). We were received warmly by a healthy audience of about twenty people and ended up signing lots of books. There was genuine enthusiasm. I no longer have to do any preparation for these things. I let Emma read and then just go off and tell the stories behind the accompanying photographs. The stories seem to be getting longer. It's hard to shut me up! As usual, we had a lot of fun. I like to think that if we're having fun, then the audience will be enjoying themselves too.

Finally, a huge shout to Sarah (and Georgie). They run a little gem of a bookshop. It's so well curated. I go in there and want to buy every single book they have out on display. They love and know their business and do a lot to support the writing community around Halifax. If you live in the area, do try to support them back. Thanks, to all involved.
