Hard ball
Another odd day at work, which was mostly quiet before a flurry of calls right at the death.
Fortunately, I was still able to give us all an early fish fingers, chips n beans tea before we headed off to m’boy’s cricket match. Somewhere in the middle though, I was finally able to give The Eldest her early 18th birthday present - I had been awaiting on the arrival of a bespoke card - which was a trip to London to see Hamilton!
She seemed really pleased with it, so I’m looking forward to heading South with her next weekend, which will really definitely be our actual final last time at the parent’s house as they will complete in early June. We’ll head into London from there to grab some lunch and take in the sights before showtime!
In good spirits, we headed up to the match and m’boy donned his brand new clobber as he’s now stepped up to hard ball cricket. He did well with the bat - I think he’s a solid middle order batsmen - scoring five singles, but it was with the bowling that he came into his own, clean bowling two and completing a stumping for a run-out. In the distance we could see him turn away with fists pumped as he took his third wicket!
The team came away with a win too - high fives all round! I’m delighted for him as he’s certainly learned how to lose with his football team this year, so chuffed that he got to taste the sweetness of victory too.
I wonder if he’ll be able to treat those two impostors just the same...
Have a great weekend!
