Happiness Is A Warm Bum

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

I am happy today.

It's an overspill of happiness from last night. Caro and I watched a documentary about the band Fanny and obviously I watched it for the name alone.

But then it turned out to be an excellent documentary! I enjoyed the music and I really liked all the amazing band members. Basically, I love Fanny. Who would have thought it?

Caro and I spent some time after the doco ended looking for merchandise. Sadly, there are no t-shirts, badges or Fanny magnets available.

In addition, I had nice online chats with Shenée*, Briar and Ellie yesterday. Also my friends Christine and Akasha from Team Jess. They are excited that I am coming back soon. And that makes me feel happy.

So I was happy already when I woke up this morning. Caro not so much. She was nervous because today was her defensive driving test at 9am. She was up and showered, dressed and stressed by 8.30.

But then her driving test guy cancelled! He was unwell, he said.

"Effing HELL!" said Caro. But since she was up we decided to make use of the time. We went to look at some cars and go around the shops. Although today was rather cold, the sun shone down and we had fun together. And I felt really happy. And I looked at Caro and she seemed delighted with herself too.

She took me into a store and bought me a "shacket". A cross between a shirt and a jacket. She gave me the hard sell on it, and I replied, "Why are you trying to sell it to me? I'm already sold!"

The actual salesperson in the store laughed at us both. I'm sure our comedy stylings made her day. We are hilarious, obviously.

When we got home we put on the movie Air and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a fun movie full of good acting and a LOT of amusing swearing. But we quit the movie halfway through to chat to Reg in Sydney.

As always he was full of good humour and fun stories about his life. Also recommendations about music and movies. We love Reg and the pair of us felt full of warm fuzzies after he hung up (two hours later).

We finished our movie, loving the 80's soundtrack (which includes "Born in the USA", "Time After Time" and "Axel F") and enjoyed a visit from DG.

I'm just feeling very grateful for things today. I'm sitting her in the warm as the cold evening draws in. The sun is about to set and our fire and lights are on. There are happy cats in our lounge and we have leftover Thai food to eat.

Life is good. I shall try not to forget it again.

* Shenée made me laugh a LOT with this story of her travels in Sydney with a colleague:

After dragging him around duty free helping me choose a cologne for Craig we headed to our gate. Both tired and exhausted. I was thinking ahead about using the bathroom while on land rather than in the air on the plane.

So I blurt out "Hey I want to go to the toilet on the floor."

His polite reply: "Sure, no problem."

I'm then explaining what I ACTUALLY meant and I'm laughing at this point and asked him why he didn't seem bothered ..?

"You said it with such confidence it sounded like you had done it before."

Such a gentleman.
