double decker garden

In addition to liking the garden below, the birds like the garden on the deck. I'm sitting on my marvelous deck, three dwarf trees behind me, flowers all around, enjoying this cute sparrow hopping around. 

The purple globes are all chives. I decided I have so many chives I can let them flower and still have plenty. There was a  bee on the salvia. There is blue columbine in the hanging basket. One of the staked trees is Golden Falls which is normally staked to a certain height and then allowed to weep. The other staked little tree is a Bihou. It doesn't look great, it might not make it, but if it does it will provide bright orange bark in winter. 

I went to the doctor today and I am overjoyed that I still do not have diabetes. In fact, my A1C was perfect. There is a vaccine I wanted that the CDC decided I'm too old for that she was able to give me. There was one person in the world who was happy to get a shot today and I was that person! There is nothing like being told you are too old to have something to make you want it. 

It is warm. It is beautiful. The birds are chirping like all the world is a sunny day. 

Ukraine claims borsch soup as theirs, dating back to the 14th century. Volunteer group Capital Kitchen Unit makes kits for 4,000-5,000 sachets per month for troops. 


There is going to be a big Eurovision grand final watching with 250 Ukrainians in Wokingham. The Cowshed is a charity based there. It has been helping Ukrainian refugees since the start of the war, providing clothing, toiletries, bedding, and kindness. They are making flags and bunting. The National Lottery is funding Ukrainian events in the UK. 


Russia, for a second year in a row, is banned from competing.
