Day 14: Howick Hall & the Long Road South
Visited Howick Hall & Gardens this morning and enjoyed a walk through the arboretum. Earl Grey tea was invented for the second earl here to counter the taste of lime in their spring water but when Lady Grey served it in London it became hugely popular and Twinning started to sell it…unfortunately they hadn’t copyrighted the recipe so never made a penny from the invention.
We had a pot in the tearoom!
Then a very slow stop start journey down the A19/A1 to tonight’s stopover.
