Patriotic

"Welcome to the Home of the Codebreakers". These words have recently been added to all the signs which mark the boundary of the town of Bletchley. It's just a small town in Buckinghamshire but during World War Two it was the home of some very patriotic people.

Bletchley Park is a large house and grounds in the middle of Bletchley. It was chosen by the Government in 1938 to be the place where all the deciphering and code breaking would happen (it still happens but at GCHQ). Hundreds of men and women, both service personnel and civilians, worked here throughout the war. They may not have risked their lives for their country but they certainly saved many brave servicemen from being killed and their efforts helped the Allies to achieve their victory.

Just by coincidence our first poppies flowered in the garden this week. The poppy is the flower of remembrance. My combination of images is my way of remembering the patriotic people who worked at Bletchley Park. Their names don't appear on any War Memorials but there is a Roll of Honour in what is now the Museum at Bletchley Park which remembers all of those who worked there.
