Iris

Today started with wonderful sunshine.. with the promise of the surface being delivered as second job of the day.  They appeared at 2.30 and were done by 3 and ready to finish for the day.  My heart sank when I spotted that the external corner had been left sharp instead of gently rounded.  In bathrooms I always think it is best to have round corners where possible incase of slips and falls. Fortunately they were equipped with machinery that could remedy that problem and soon set to work.. now it is nicely rounded.. relief!  We now have 4 days in which to paint the bathroom.. before the rest will be done next week.  I went to buy some paint and when I was told I needed the Diamond Ice (I think they called it) bathroom paint.. which is tough and wipe downable.  As I was getting a 2.5lts pot one chap just said do you want to know the cost to which I laughingly said not really!!  Boy am I glad he told me.. the mix was going to cost £78 for 2.5ltrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I quickly thanked him for the info and chose to go with soft sheen instead as that was what we probably used before the high fangled new paint came into being.  Still not cheap but as we are doing it ourselves it is saving a few pennies!
The iris are fabulous this year.. this was taken before we had thundershowers.. I hope they are still standing tall!
Book Club tonight to discuss last months book. For a change I finished it so long ago that I can barely remember what it was about.. It was called Writers and Lovers.. I seem to remember it was about writers and lovers but that is about it! My choice next is The Outrun by Amy Liptrot.. since we have just had a lovely holiday on Orkney this might be a fun book to read. Just hope everyone else thinks so too!
