Wall
We parked by the entrance to the ruins but for a change we walked round and o to the 'amphitheatre ' .. what was actually the quarry where the stone was hewn out to build the Abbey 1000 years ago. Now well and truly grassed over and a popular place for walks.. and if we ever get snow a good place for sledging.
We walked beyond and took our time enjoying the sunshine and the fresh green foliage.
On the way back we stopped at the cafe. Not the same as it used to be. The cake was nice but it's now dispensed in a paper bag even if you are sitting at their tables. The coffee was in a paper cup. Seemed expensive. Ah well. It was pleasant enough in the sunshine
I like this old wall, built as a boundary wall, heaven knows how many centuries ago, maybe when the Abbey was occupied.
What stories it could tell
I've now caught up with my blips.
