the last of them
I have been lazy recently, not using my proper camera very often. Today I rediscovered the joys of my lovely portrait lens, which captures the fleeting beauty of flowers as well as faces. These are the last narcissi from our garden and the first of the lilac. All in a vase now on the kitchen table and smelling heavenly.
You were all very observant about the wee basket I used to forage mushrooms yesterday. Today for gathering flowers, I used a basket which used to belong to the mother of our one-time neighbour, Michael. Michael grew up with what we now call additional support needs. His mother gave him most of that support, teaching him the skills he needed to live independently. He nursed her in her final illness. Michael had a kind heart and his own funeral was well-attended. When his brother cleared out his house afterwards, he said that we could have anything which wasn't wanted so we have a few wee bits to remind us of Michael and one of them is this basket. It's simply made and has been repaired with plastic twine in a couple of places but it does the job.
