Gospel Oak

I accompanied hubby on a sort of work trip to London to visit a couple of church pastors and their wives.

Spotted this lovely mosaic outside Gospel Oak tube station.

Intrigued by the name, I googled and found that centuries ago when this urban area (in the Hampstead/KentishTown area) was in the countryside, there was a big oak tree where people would gather to hear the gospel preached by the likes of John Wesley and many others.
The oak tree has long gone but the gospel is still being preached in churches nearby, including by the pastors we visited today.
