2 eggs beneath her

Where the poor swans up river from her have abandoned their nest for the 2nd time this lady is sitting on 2 eggs. The problem the swans seem to have is needing to place their nests in exactly the right place. The first nest they made was built when the water was high and when the level dropped it was left with 3 eggs stranded too far in land. The second seems to have been flooded out by a rise in the water level. They are solid nests but the level of the Relief Channel, governed by sluices, is dramatic. Whereas the grebes just throw some sticks together which looks really flimsy but goes up and down with the levels. All they need to look out for are wild mink. I've seen a couple of mink traps, euphemistically called 'environmental rafts', have been set out by the Environment Agency so they are definitely around. Good luck Mrs Grebe!
