A technical hike
Our walk today started at the Roman aqueduct near Ansignan. Little remains of the third century construction. Most of it is ninth century, but it still carries water except during this exceptional period of drought. Some restoration work is due to begin soon. We then walked up about 570 m the Serre de Vergès. The climb was very steep on loose stones and the descent even more tricky with passages where we had to scramble or hold onto ropes. It was a lovely sunny day although the wind was quite strong at times.
