Match Stick Lichen

Actually these lichen are much shorter and narrower than matchsticks, and I have no idea of their real name,but they make me think of matchsticks so that's what I've named them. Won't be lighting any fires with these today andway - too wet for that.

Anyway - it rained today - off and on all day and by the time I left work at about 4 it was already getting pretty dark so there wasn't much choice of blip. I dashed down to where I knew there was a tree stump supporting lots of lichen hoping for a droplet/lichen combo. It was raining really heavily at this point but it seems that the heads of these lichen are so round (and tiny) that the raindrops just sluiced over them instead of landing on them.

Ah well, managed to get one that was being cupped by a multiheaded growth.
