In one of Cheltenham’s signature parks this tree has been felled. There are many other capital trees in town approaching old age with uncertainty. The risk of damaging life and limb means they have to go under current health and safety regulations. This one was diseased but not outwardly visible. There is very limited evidence of under planting. Cheltenham’s ‘rus in urbis’ crown is now seriously under threat.
