Keep calm and make pompoms!
The 'We Are Norwich' music event went off absolutely brilliantly this afternoon and evening without any trouble. There was a lovely atmosphere with several brilliant bands and DJs providing great music and it was good to catch up with people I've not seen for a while.
It was also a good opportunity to share thoughts, concerns and ideas about how to respond to actions and events arising from the horrific murder in Woolwich last week. I don't think there is one clear answer.
However, the atmosphere at the event was calm, chilled and relaxed. Some of my friends from the Sew Gay craft group brought along wool and circles of cardboard so that children - and adults - could, if they wished, make brightly coloured pompoms to decorate parts of the city centre for Norwich Pride.
It was great how popular this activity was, and here we see the very talented Kimberley Moore (on the left) a local singer-songwriter who was one of the performers today and (on the right) my friend Shell, who sings in the choir with me. She is also one of the people who founded Norwich Pride five years ago and remains a member of the collective which organises the event.
