Heron in flight

Having been out most of yesterday on a 5.6 mile walk, we decided that since the weather was still good we would go on a walk this afternoon too. It ended up as an 8.4 mile round trip using the Thames Path from Cricklade. I don't think we quite meant to go that far!

But we did see some amazing things including this heron, and several more (!) although unfortunately they all took to flight before we got to them. I love the way their wing tip feathers turn up to increase stability and to cut down drag and this make flying more efficient. I wonder why it is that modern aircraft have only relatively recently started to have angled wingtips to provide the same benefits!

Could it be that we are so slow to learn the truths that God has already put in his creation? It really is amazing that we are so slow to learn. How much more wonderful is the fact of his great love for us!
