Newborn

Sooo, two days, two pix, two birds. Today’s is real (baby sparrow atop one of the columns of our house).

But yesterday’s was produced entirely by MidJourney (a visual AI tool) with a simple prompt: “photo of a barn owl flying straight at me, wings extended, over water, with its reflection captured in the water.” 30 seconds later, the tool produced four slightly different images for me to pick from. From there, I could have taken the image into any traditional photo editing tool and continued to refine it (I didn’t).

I’ve been playing with this and am astounded at what the tool can do (and how fast it is learning from week to week). I think there is an entire segment of photography which will become obsolete in short order…. I may post some of its creations once in a while as I experiment with what it can do.

What do you think of AI? A brighter future or a threat to it?
