High Tide at Brancaster Staithe
High tide was at 8.50am this morning so the sailors set off at 8am to go sailing. Xena and I walked to the harbour with them and saw them off, and I took a few photos. This is a much photographed old boat that is moored there. In extras are the sailors as they set off in the boat. It is a 20ft day sailer, a class of boat called a Hawk that was designed in Devon for tidal sailing but they are very common here - in fact Brancaster Staithe has the largest fleet of Hawks in the world! They had fun and found some wind too.
When they got back and after breakfast, we went to Brancaster beach to walk to the seals. It was 20C but getting a bit overcast. Xena loves chasing the ball on the beach so this was her final treat on this trip.
We had a lovely BBQ lunch at home of burgers and salads. We have now packed up, tidied up, I have done about 3 loads of washing and we are about to set off for home. It has been a wonderful weekend with the family.
