Garden Party

As in “Beer Garden”
I took advantage of there being no bass in the intro to “Summer of 69” to grab a quick shot of the rest of the band in action. Well, most of them anyway. One of our guitarists was working this afternoon and I couldn’t get far enough back to fit the keyboard player in.
We already had two gigs booked for this weekend - last night and tonight - so thought we might as well take up the offer of playing outside at the Sun Inn in Ulverston this afternoon. We were under a shelter, but it didn’t wasn’t really necessary as the weather remained warm and sunny.
There was a DJ on after us and they wanted to set up as soon as we finished playing at 6. Consequently, we had the worlds fastest load out, with everything in the van in less than 25 minutes. Definitely something of a record, and I doubt we’ll equal that after tonight’s gig - which is fortunately only 15 minutes drive away.
All cables etc, were just chucked in box. Certainly speeded up the packing down, but we may regret it when setting up later and having to untangle everything.
After three gigs in two days, I’ll be ready for a rest tomorrow. We’re not out again until the end of May, when we have another three gig weekend. Slightly better as it’s spread over three nights and one of them is in Kendal, so a bit less travelling for me.
We’re not on again tonight until 9pm so I’m just having a bit of a chill and a bite to eat before heading back into the fray. It’s going to be a late one, but at least I can have a lie-in tomorrow. I’ll definitely have earned it!
