This is the view from Blackfriars’s Bridge at 4:56 am. We got up at 3:45, got a taxi to Blackfriar’s at 4:30 and then the 5:01 train to Gatwick. Already it felt like a long day, but the airport and flight were fine and the wait at Bari for the car rental was to be expected. 

By 3 pm we made it to the Trullo in the cool rain. Martin assured us this would be the worst weather of our holiday. We hope he’s right!
