Fremontodendron

Dark and dreary again, but no rain, so we had a chance to walk to the library. This neighborhood flannel bush looks to be close to ten feet tall, and almost as wide—a very striking swath of brightness along the curb. The flowers start out as burnt orange bells, and open up to dramatic yellow blossoms about 3-4 inches wide.
