Heavy is the head
I like seeing history unfold. It may have had plenty of dull bits and quite a lot about God, but the coronation also featured some incredible moments. My favourite among them was the array of vestments and artefacts steeped in history, all conferred on the new King to the sound of Byzantine hymn. Who could fail to be stirred by the sapphire of Edward the Confessor or the Black Prince's ruby? Penny Mordaunt (should be Penny Swordaunt) also put in a shift, which will have done no harm to her credentials.
Stayed around to support Mum during the soggy street party afterwards. I know how important it is to her to make a good impression on the neighbours, although I don't quite understand why.
Luckily R is doing well, although bloated and swollen to the point he can't do up his trousers. He should be home tomorrow. Saw an installation of stained glass windows on my way out of the hospital and stopped to take a closer look given the ecclesiastical themes of the day. My eye was drawn to a lady deep in thought.
