Picasso and Paul Smith

Vikram’s birthday.   We love our hotel and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast.

The Picasso Museum, which is near us has had a rehang by the British fashion designer Paul Smith who has a rather sweet and honest response to Picasso who he obviously loves.  He’s painted new backgrounds to refreshed groupings of the paintings.  It’s not complicated, this room had stripes to respond to stripy paintings

We went to lunch in Ensa, an Italian restaurant we’d been to many years ago which has thrived and prospered despite the pandemic. We then wandered down past Astier Villate and went to look at the Museum of Arts Décoratifs   It’s part of the Louvre but compared to the V&A it’s dismal and depressing.  I’d always wanted to see it but it was an old fashioned dumping ground.

We skipped over to the Left bank, shopped a bit before going out to a fancy meal at Comice, recommended by V’s foodie friends. An upscale restaurant run by an American and full of Americans, delicious food but a bit hermetic.

Home late - stuffed!
