Coronation.
Having lived through one coronation I was obviously going to watch this one with great interest. The first I watched on a neighbour's TV the room was packed, kids on the floor, as many adults as possible on chairs and benches the rest standing at the back (mainly men). Being Cumberland (it was until 1974) I remember Rum Butter and crackers. The screen on the TV was about the size of a modern tablet computer and of course black and white..
Today we watched in colour on a screen many times larger. Britain can certainly put on a show when we put our minds to it. After the Coronation there was to be a tea in the village hall. So we strolled down to the Boot and Shoe for a "preprandial drink". The weather was fairly warm so we sat outside. Using my phone I took a few shots.
The blip shows the village cross decked out with "Union Jacks" (strictly speaking Union Flags as technically they are only jacks when flown on the jack staff of a ship). The tree to the left is an Oak planted to mark the Silver Jubilee" of the late Queen.
