I spotted that my picture of the ancient castle in Fethiye had been photo- bombed by a pigeon so that was my title.
The ruins of the castle are above the old town of Fethiye, built originally in the 11th century then restored and added to by the Knights of St John in the 15th century. What was left was destroyed in the 1950s by an earthquake.
My mission today was to buy a postcard for m-in-l, she enjoys displaying them and showing them to visitors. Since covid though they appear to be rather rare in this area. We took the dolmus down to Fethiye after a wet start to the day and started to wander. I picked a likely shop and to my amazement struck lucky first time when a boxfull was produced.
We sat on the harbour edge with a cup of coffee and wrote the card only to discover that we had to take it into the post office to buy a stamp and send it. The post office is closed till Monday, ah well we'll likely beat it home!
We decided to have lunch in town as rain was forecast, picked a very pleasant place and sat over not very much food and a glass of delicious home made lemonade for a long time.
The rain held off until we got back to the hotel, we were delighted to make it back dry!
We were treated to some very spectacular thunder and lightning this afternoon, so after an additional indoor darts competition(talk about living the high life lol.), we retreated to our room and relaxed (nodded off!). The rain stopped around 5pm so we gradually all emerged again a bit like startled rabbits. Hopefully it's going to stay dry tomorrow, the forecasts are a bit mixed.
I caught up with some of the coronation images from London on the news sites, strange to be so far away on such a major national event. The older granddaughters seem to have had fun though.
