Pity about the flypast . . .

What a day for a parade.  I gather that wet is traditional for a coronation.
 
 
I have to confess that we unintentionally  became intrigued with the traditions of the ceremony and virtually watched all of it.  All the symbolic rituals had real meaning in past years, and a counterpart in today’s world.
 
I’m not a Royalist, but I’m not sure that what replaced the royal family would be any better.  Just look at some other countries over the past fifty or a hundred years.  At least our monarch / ‘head of state’ is kept in check by parliament.
 
And I do love a good military parade.
