Arum maculatum

Lords-and-Ladies, Vicar-in-the-pulpit, 2 common names for this plant. Many tips of the young flowers on these plants have been eaten so finding a perfect one was not so easy. I love the curves.
Walked Indie, then Mum & I went over to Ipplepen to visit Bavers, an old work colleague, walker, travel companion, &  long time art farty friend of mine. We changed cars then went across, through the narrow country lanes to Hill House Nursery at Landscove. They have a very good coffee shop which was where we headed first. Coffee & delicious homemade cake with clotted cream, then a lovely mooch around the nursery. They very often  have unusual  plants for sale, as well as many  tender plants in the the polytunnels. Today did'nt disappoint. I bought Roxanne,  a herbaceous geranium. Bavers made a few purchases too. We had a wander around the beds of Lychgate Cutting Garden in the adjoining field before making tracks. I'd taken a couple of ornamental grasses over for Bavers, Juncus spiralis, & Hakonechloa. I came away with a gorgeous Scilla, which has the most amazing blue blooms, plus 4 Pomodoro tomato plants, & a gorgeous posy made up with flowers in Bavers garden. A lovely way to spend a few hours.
