Out of Control

Two of the tiny shrubs planted in our garden when we bought the house 23 1/2 years ago are now completely out of control.  

They have been trimmed several times, but now I think they need to go.  I that area attracts birds, foxes and hedgehogs though - and I don't want to disturb any wildlife.  So I don't get round to doing anything.
