Blossoming
I walked to the allotment before dinner, to calm my mind and exercise my body after a day at my desk.
The apple blossom is in full bloom, whilst the pear and plum blossom are now wilting and dropping.
I took photographs of the blossom on each apple tree to study it and see if there are noticeable differences. There certainly are some strong differences in the shades of pink between some and one variety - the Isle of Wight Pippin - flowers a few weeks later than the others - it’s red/pink buds still being tightly shut.
My obsession (?) with fruit trees continued into the evening when a miniature cherry tree and miniature apple tree (need to remind myself of the varieties) arrived from a small nursery in Devon. They are now unpacked and adjusting to their new home. I’m thinking they may stay in the garden so I can admire them from close quarters.
