Kells Bay: Day 1
A rendezvous with Robert and Finola in the French patisserie In Kenmare and then on to the Iveragh Peninsula.
First stop St Michael's Well in Ballinskelligs. We were stopped in our tracks by the information board for the photo looked oddly familiar. Hang on - that was Robert and just behind the well was a flash of orange mac - you know whose! But who had taken the photo? A bit of research and we found it was one of Finola’s - how cheeky though, no acknowledgement!
The next stop on the agenda was an incredible one. Seriously remote, almost at the end of the Bolus Head with a minute road leading upwards - was the remains of an early ecclesiastical settlement, literally clinging onto the edge of a cliff. Now mainly a scenic jumble of stones there had been a church and buildings and lots of cross slabs. There had also been a well which proved elusive but I was followed by a herd of pink tinged sheep who found me fascinating!
A delicious Thai curry ( a green one), a wander round the ground followed by an early night.
