Sea Watchers, Bray Head
On my suburban walk with the collie, the one that ascends the lower reaches of Bray Head, enters a little pedestrian gate, a narrow, muddy path beneath a dark, close tunnel of hedges and trees, to emerge on a slope of The Head with good views of the townscape and bay; what struck me was the calm sea and the way it almost seamlessly blended with the horizon. That's what I meant to photograph, but I then noticed this bundled-up person; something about her stance, hooded and just a little mysterious in the way of certain hooded people, that apartness and sense of remove and privacy, and the bleached greys and pinks, moved me to photograph her.
