the Art of Livin'

Two weeks ago I saw some videos of Matthew McConaughey inviting people to join him for a one-off event designed to help people find their 'more'. As a person who works in the field of people development and in particular developing their leadership skills I thought I would have a glance at the online event on the 24th.

It did not start well. The MC featured in the photo proclaimed there were  2 million people online from over 155,000 different countries!!!!!!!!!!!!  Classic sales hype - style over content. My mood switched from curiosity to disappointment when the fake canned laughter kicked in and the sales process began. I later found out this event lasted 6 hours! I watched some of the summary video later to see al the speakers. All of them told people what they should do which linked to the products being offered, of course. And any of the good material they spoke about was positioned as their own wisdom instead of crediting the original sources. Not impressed.
